Good to see a number of known investors among the top 25 selected by Forbes as the leaders in European tech investments. Among them, Reshma and Harry attended pitching events organised by Techcelerate in Manchester and Saul had significant influence on the ecosystem development.
- Reshma Sohoni – Took part in June 2008 event, where 8 companies pitched. Only edocr achieved an exit.
- Harry Briggs – Took part in September 2011 event. Out of the 5 companies, all five are still live and growing. Sharpest pitch was delivered by Dean Fankhauser of Nuji, who came from London to Manchester to pitch. Among others were Robert Wakeling of Wadaro, Jayveer Thakoor of MPMSIM, Charles and Robert Goodwin of Web Enable IT and Philip Worthington of Konkura. Nuji went on to raise $2 million in funding. Wadaro raised over $1m in funding from local investors, YFM and Enterprise Ventures.
- Saul Klein – inspired me to setup OpenCoffee Manchester in March 2007 and then I co-ordinate with Phil Blything, Dean Sadler and Imran Ali to setup Liverpool, Sheffield and Leeds OpenCoffee events respectively.
