Low Carbon Electric

Low Carbon Electric builds network infrastructure tools that combat climate change by reducing carbon emissions and helping network operators meet their Net Zero commitments.

What it does

• Optimises the efficiency and reliability of electricity lines and transformers.
• Proactive fault management.
• Network capacity enhancement, helping Distribution System Operators unlock low voltage network capacity for electric vehicles, heat pumps and solar PV.

Its approach is to get more from existing infrastructure, reducing cost and carbon at the same time, without changing how people use electricity. As the company puts it: “Reducing the cost of sustainability is the heart of our technology.”

Low Carbon Electric is based in Bolton, Greater Manchester, and was founded in 2015 by Dr Martin Caton.
