Idea validation scorecard

Score your idea honestly across six areas to see how strong the evidence is, where it is weakest and what to test next.

Score your idea

Pick 0 to 5 for each area. Score what you can prove today, not what you hope. Example scores are pre-filled.

    What this means

      How it works
      • Each of the six areas is scored 0 to 5, so the total is out of 30. The percentage is total ÷ 30.
      • Verdict (rule of thumb): 0–12 “Keep exploring”, 13–20 “Promising, test the weakest area”, 21–30 “Strong signals, start building a narrow first version”.
      • Weakest areas are the two lowest scores. Where scores tie, earlier-stage risks come first in this order: evidence, problem, willingness to pay, customer, competition, founder–market fit. You can’t fix the later ones if the earlier ones are not real.
      • Next experiments depend on the score: a low score (0–2) gets a discovery experiment, a middle score (3–4) gets a test that asks for commitment.
      • The radar chart plots each score on its own spoke from 0 (centre) to 5 (edge). A large, even shape is better than a spiky one.
      • This is a thinking aid, not a prediction. The scores are only as good as the evidence behind them. Nothing you select leaves your browser; your scores are saved in this browser’s local storage.
