Techcelerate Coffees Leeds #1

The more you talk the clearer it gets – and you can’t really do this via zoom. I’m enjoying getting out and about.

I was in Leeds for attending the 10th anniversary of the Northern Tech Awards and decided to hold Techcelerate Coffees Leeds at Tetley.

Unfortunately, I made a mistake when I reached out to 200 connections on Linkedin on Monday. The date on the message was one day before. A classic schoolboy error.

It may have been just the three of us at Techcelerate Coffees Leeds, but the conversation was very rich nevertheless.

What an opportunity to get to know two tech founders from Leeds!

Gary Woodhead is disrupting how residential property development is financed through Curveblock.

Leon Doyle is disrupting white goods maintenance among other things. It would be an under statement if I say, Leon knows a thing or two about plugs.

His canny plugs have helped him to create two tech startups, WifiPlug and Myma. Leon has also gone through six accelerators.

We also had a chance to discuss talent development and building tech startups – the journey is evolving the more I speak of SkilledUp Life.

Whilst it’s too early to discuss about disrupting both the accelerator and equity finance models, the scope is certainly there.

Get out of your home offices and venture out folks. It’s worth the travel if you organise your itinerary well.
